Friday Night Movie: South Pacific

Every Friday, a member of the Vesties team honors one of their favorite movies with a treasury. This week Linda from Umeone pays tribute to the classic musical South Pacific.

One of Rodgers and Hammerstein's best loved musicals, South Pacific is the story of romance, danger and prejudice. A young Navy nurse falls hard for a French plantation owner. A naval lieutenant falls in love with a young Asian girl. A dangerous military intelligence mission is undertaken. It's a story that's equal parts sweep-you-off-your-feet romance, edge of your seat suspense and heartbreaking drama all set to some some of the best music ever written for the Broadway stage. The classic 1958 film was directed by Joshua Logan and starred Mitzi Gaynor, Rossano Brazzi, John Kerr, Ray Walston and Juanita Hall.

Here's what Linda had to say:
I just love that tropical fascination this movie evoked. What a great era in our history, the war was over, the romance and celebration had begun!
